CHAPTER 2: ANTI-AGING SECRETS

Book Summaries

Having a youthful mind drives you towards healthy lifestyle. Maintaining an active, adaptable mind is one of the key factors of staying young. Presented with new information, the brain creates new connections. This will expose you to change and develop ingrained habits, which will get things things done quickly and efficiently.

Our neutrons start to age when we are in our twenties. This process is slowed, by intellectual activity, interacting with others and desire to learn.

Many people seem older than they are. These days, people live at frantic pace and in a nearly constant state of competition which causes stress. Stress is a natural response to the information being received by the body as potentially problematic or dangerous. These process are, in moderation, beneficial — they help us to overcome challenge in our daily lives but is has harmful effects too. It has degenerative effect over time, and affects the memory of the person which leads to depression. The method to reduce stress is focusing on oneself.

Though challenges are good for keeping mind and body active, we should adjust our high stress lifestyle in order to avoid the premature aging of our bodies.

A small dose of stress is a positive thing . It was discovered that people who faced little challenges and maintained a low level of stress, lived longer than those who create a more relaxed lifestyle and retired earlier.

The rise of sedentary behaviour has led to numerous diseases such as hypertension and obesity, which in turn affect longevity. By making small changes we can renew our bodies and mind:

• Walk to work or just go for a walk

• Use your feet instead of an elevator

• Participate in social or leisure activities

• Get right amount of sleep- It is the tool of anti-aging , as it produces melatonin.

• Play with children or pet, or join a sports team

• Be conscious of your daily routine- detect harmful habits and replace them with productive ones.

The mind has tremendous power over the body. Studies have found that the people who live the longest have two dispositional traits: a positive attitude and emotional awareness. In other words they had full lives that were difficult at times, but they knew how to approach these challenges with positive attitude.

“ We have to learn to turn off the autopilot thats steering us in an endless loop.” In this way, we connect with the here and low and limit thoughts that tend to spiral out of control.
