CHAPTER 03: “HE WHO CAN DO THIS HAS THE WHOLE WORLD WITH HIM. HE WHO CANNOT WALKS A LONELY WAY”

“The only way on earth to influence other people is to talk about what they want and show them how to get it.”

We all may be very fond of strawberries or mangoes, but we know for some strange reasons, fish prefer worms. Have you ever wondered why we bait the hook with worms and not strawberries or mangoes? The answer is simple because they would prefer worms over strawberries and mangoes. Don’t think about what you want. Think about what they want. Why not use the same common sense when dealing with people?

Every act we have ever performed since the day we were born was done because we wanted something. Why talk about what we want? Of course, we all are interested in what we want. But no one else is. So always remember the only way to influence people is to talk about what they want and show them how to get it.

Henry Ford said “If there is any one secret of success, it lies in the ability to get the other person’s point of view and see things from that person’s angle as well as from your own.” This is so simple, so obvious; yet 90 per cent of the people on this earth ignore it 90 per cent of the time.

The world is full of people who are grabbing and self-seeking. People who can put themselves in the place, who can understand the working of their minds, need never worry about what the future has in store for them.

Remember: “First, arouse in the other person an eager want. He who can do this has the whole world with him. He who cannot walks a lonely way.”

PRINCIPLE 3: Arouse in the other person an eager want.
